Managed IT Services for New Zealand Small and Medium Businesses

Our managed IT services for NZ businesses roll everyday technology care into one monthly plan: help desk, patching, endpoint protection, backup checks, licence administration and regular security reviews. Choose Essential, Business or Enterprise to suit your size.

Monitoring software runs continuously, so a failed backup in Christchurch or a locked account in Wellington is logged as soon as it happens. We agree support hours that suit your business day before we start, and those hours and our response times are set out in your service agreement.

Plans are delivered remotely, so a small business in Auckland gets the same service as a regional office in the Waikato or the Bay of Plenty. They are priced in US dollars, billed monthly and backed by reports that show what was patched, backed up and reviewed.

In short

What is a managed service provider (MSP)?

A managed service provider (MSP) is a company that runs a business's IT for a fixed monthly fee instead of being called only when something breaks. The MSP monitors devices, accounts, and the network continuously, fixes problems early, and keeps everything patched, secured, and backed up. TechPit Solutions delivers managed IT remotely, with support hours and response times set out in the service agreement.

  • Best for businesses with no full-time IT person, or a single IT employee who needs backup cover and specialist help.
  • Delivered remotely on a monthly per-user plan; onboarding starts with a discovery call and audit, and we give you a timeline after that call.

The problem

Without someone responsible for IT, updates get skipped, passwords get shared, backups are never tested, and the laptop that runs your business fails on the busiest day of the month.

What an MSP does

Everything a good IT department does, without hiring one

  • Help desk for your staff

One place for every IT question: password resets, new laptops, printer problems, email issues. Staff contact us by email, WhatsApp or phone, and every request is logged and tracked to completion.

  • Proactive monitoring

Agents on every device and alerts on your network and cloud accounts tell us about failing disks, full storage, missed updates and suspicious sign-ins, usually before anyone notices a problem.

  • Patching and maintenance

Operating systems, browsers and business apps are updated on a schedule you approve, with testing first and a rollback plan if an update misbehaves.

  • Security and backups

Endpoint protection, email filtering, multi-factor sign-in and backups that we actually test by restoring files, so recovery works when you need it.

  • Users and licences

We handle joiners, movers and leavers: accounts, devices, permissions and licences, so access is right from day one and removed on the last day.

  • Planning and reporting

Monthly reports show what we fixed and what needs attention. Higher tiers add quarterly reviews and an IT roadmap tied to your budget.

Who it's for

A good fit if you recognise yourself here

  • Businesses with roughly 5 to 250 staff and no full-time IT person
  • Companies whose single IT employee needs backup cover and specialist help
  • Firms that hold customer, patient or financial data and need security controls in place
  • Teams spread across offices and homes who need one help desk for everyone
  • Owners who want a predictable monthly IT cost instead of surprise bills

Managed IT for businesses in New Zealand

Insurer and customer questionnaires

Cyber insurers and larger customers often ask about MFA, patching and backups before they quote or sign. Ongoing management keeps those answers current and backed by reports rather than guesswork.

Monitoring through long weekends

Monitoring tools keep watching devices, backups and email while your team is offline, including over long weekends and public holidays. When our team acts on those alerts is set by the support hours in your service agreement.

Onshore cloud regions

Microsoft and AWS both operate cloud regions in Auckland. We can design your environment so primary data and backups stay in New Zealand, where the services you use are available there.

Ready for a breach assessment

Managed logging, alerting and a documented runbook mean a suspected privacy breach can be assessed quickly, which matters because serious breaches must be notified to the Privacy Commissioner as soon as practicable.

Support terms

Support hours and response times, in writing

  • Support hours in writing

Help desk hours and response times are agreed in your service agreement before we start, by plan and by priority, so everyone knows exactly what is covered.

  • Monitoring that runs continuously

Monitoring tools watch your devices, accounts and network all the time and raise alerts for our team to act on. How urgent outages outside support hours are handled is agreed up front.

  • Priority handling

Outages affecting several people or a security alert jump the queue and stay with an engineer until resolved. Routine requests are worked in order and you're updated throughout.

  • Clear escalation

Every plan has a named escalation path. If a ticket isn't moving, you know who to contact and when you'll hear back.

Monitoring

What our monitoring watches

  • Device health: disk, memory, CPU, battery and storage
  • Missed patches and unsupported software
  • Antivirus and EDR detections
  • Risky or unusual sign-ins to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
  • Firewall, internet link and Wi-Fi availability
  • Backup job success and failures

Security and backups

Layered protection, tested recovery

Layered protection

Managed antivirus or EDR on every device, email filtering for phishing and malware, DNS filtering and secure configuration baselines.

Identity first

Multi-factor sign-in for every account, conditional access where your licences support it, and admin rights limited to the people who need them.

Backups you can restore

Cloud backup of Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace mail, files and Teams/Drive data, plus key devices and servers. We run test restores and report the results.

Incident response

If something gets through, we isolate the affected device, reset credentials, investigate and tell you exactly what happened and what we changed.

Data protection

Data-protection rules we help you work within in New Zealand

We put the technical controls in place. We don't give legal advice or certify compliance; your legal adviser should confirm what applies to you.
  • Privacy Act 2020 and the information privacy principles

The Privacy Act 2020 applies to almost every business and organisation that handles personal information in New Zealand, whatever its size. Its information privacy principles set rules on collecting, using, disclosing and storing personal information: principle 5 requires reasonable security safeguards against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and principle 12 limits sending personal information overseas. Since 1 May 2026, principle 3A also requires businesses, in most cases, to tell people when they collect their information from someone else. Every organisation must have a privacy officer.

How we help: We map where personal information is held across your apps and inboxes, apply role-based access and MFA, encrypt devices and backups, and remove data you no longer need to keep. Because our team works remotely from outside New Zealand, we document that access so it can be reflected in your privacy statement. Whether and how the Act applies to a particular decision is a question for your legal adviser.

  • Notifiable privacy breaches (Privacy Act 2020)

If a privacy breach has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm to someone, the organisation must notify the Privacy Commissioner and the affected people as soon as practicable. Serious harm can include financial fraud, identity theft, emotional harm and blackmail, and the sensitivity of the information and the vulnerability of the people affected both count when assessing it.

How we help: We set up logging and alerting so incidents are spotted early, write a breach-response runbook with clear roles, and help gather the technical facts, such as what was accessed and when, that your team needs to decide whether a breach has to be notified.

  • Health Information Privacy Code 2020 (health providers)

Health agencies, including doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists and rest homes, follow the Health Information Privacy Code instead of the general privacy principles when handling health information about identifiable people. Its rules mirror the principles but are tailored to health information, including rule 5 on storing it securely.

How we help: For practices and clinics we set up unique logins, MFA, encrypted devices and secure email, restrict access to patient records by role, and keep audit logs and tested backups. We document what was configured so your privacy officer can use it; interpreting the Code stays with you and your advisers.

    Official source ↗
  • Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (email and text marketing)

Commercial emails and text messages may only be sent with the recipient's consent, whether express, inferred or deemed, and the sender must be able to prove that consent exists. Each message must accurately identify the sender and how to contact them, and include a free, working unsubscribe facility; unsubscribe requests must be honoured within five working days. The Department of Internal Affairs enforces the Act.

How we help: We configure your email marketing and SMS tools to record where and when each consent was given, add sender details and unsubscribe links to every template, and sync opt-outs across your CRM and mailing lists. Decisions on what counts as valid consent stay with you.

FAQ

IT Desk questions

Prefer to talk? WhatsApp us.

Is a remote MSP a good fit for a New Zealand business with no IT staff?

For most offices that run on cloud email, laptops and SaaS apps such as Xero, yes. Almost everything an in-house administrator would do, from patching to user changes, can be done remotely and logged. Where you need hands on hardware, we coordinate with a local supplier of your choice.

How are your plans priced for New Zealand businesses?

Prices for each plan are shown on this page in US dollars and billed monthly, with the scope confirmed in writing before you start.

Will our data be kept onshore?

We can run workloads in New Zealand cloud regions such as Azure New Zealand North or AWS ap-southeast-6, both in Auckland, where the services you need are offered there. Administration by our overseas team is recorded so your privacy statement can describe it accurately.

Does a managed service mean we meet the Privacy Act?

We operate reasonable security safeguards of the kind information privacy principle 5 describes, but meeting the Act also depends on how you collect, use and disclose personal information. We do not offer legal advice.

Do you provide managed IT services in Auckland and Wellington?

Yes, as a remote service. Businesses in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and the rest of New Zealand can take any plan, with monitoring, patching, the help desk and security handled online. We have no office or engineers in New Zealand, so we are not the right choice if you want a technician on site each week. For occasional hardware jobs we work with a local supplier you choose.

Can a managed plan support a health practice under the Health Information Privacy Code?

We operate the technical safeguards a practice is expected to have, such as unique logins, MFA, encryption, access logging and tested backups, and keep records of that work. Interpreting the Code and deciding how it applies to your practice stays with you and your advisers.

What happens to our systems if we end the contract?

Admin credentials, documentation and configuration notes are handed back to you during an agreed offboarding period. Your tenants, domains and licences stay in your organisation's name throughout, so there is nothing to migrate away from us.

What does a managed service provider do?

A managed service provider takes responsibility for your IT for a monthly fee. That usually means a help desk for staff, monitoring and patching devices, managing security tools, backing up data, handling user accounts and licences, and advising on upgrades. You get a whole team instead of a single person, with costs agreed in advance.

How fast do you respond?

Support hours and response times are agreed in your service agreement before we start, by plan and by priority. Every request is logged, tracked and owned by a named person, and outages or security alerts are always handled first and stay with an engineer until they are resolved.

Which countries do you support?

IT Desk is delivered remotely to businesses in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. We agree support hours that suit your business day before we start, and for hardware that needs hands on site we coordinate with you or a local supplier.
