TechPit Solutions · United Kingdom

IT Support for Small Businesses in London and Across the UK

TechPit Solutions provides IT support for small businesses and growing organisations across the UK, from sole traders in Sutton and Croydon to multi-site firms in Manchester and Glasgow. We run help desk support, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration, device management, cyber security and the automations that take repetitive admin off your team.

We are a remote team, so work is carried out through secure remote sessions rather than site visits. We agree support hours that suit your business day before we start, and those hours and our response times are set out in your service agreement.

For many British businesses the choice is between an expensive in-house hire and a patchwork of freelancers. We offer a third route: a dedicated remote team, with clear written records of what we change and why.

Doing business in the UK

What growing businesses in the UK tell us they need

  • Hybrid working is now the norm

Many UK teams split their week between home and the office, which means personal broadband, shared family devices and laptops on trains. Keeping those endpoints patched and encrypted matters more than securing a single office network.

  • UK GDPR applies to the smallest firms

There is no small-business exemption from UK GDPR. A five-person estate agency or a local accountant has the same duty to secure personal data and report serious breaches to the ICO as a much larger organisation.

  • The cost of in-house IT

Hiring a full-time IT manager is a big commitment for an SME, and one person cannot cover their own holidays and sickness. Outsourced support spreads that work across a team.

  • Supply-chain security questions

Larger customers and public bodies increasingly send security questionnaires to suppliers, and some ask for Cyber Essentials. Smaller firms need clear answers about patching, access control and backups, and often some Cyber Essentials support, to keep winning that work.

Typical engagements

What working together looks like in the UK

  • Hybrid office security clean-up

What a typical engagement looks like: we enrol every laptop in device management, switch on disk encryption, enforce MFA on Microsoft 365 and set conditional access so company data stays off unmanaged personal devices.

  • Cyber Essentials preparation

We review firewall settings, remove old admin accounts, set up automatic updates and document the evidence, so you go into your assessment knowing where you stand.

  • Joiner and leaver automation

When someone joins or leaves, a single form triggers account creation or removal, licence changes and equipment tracking, reducing the risk of former staff keeping access to mailboxes and files.

  • Outsourced help desk for a growing practice

For a professional practice of a few dozen staff, we become the first port of call for printer issues, Teams problems, password resets and new software, with a ticket log the partners can review.

Data protection

Privacy and security rules in the UK

We implement the technical safeguards these rules expect. We don't provide legal advice or certify compliance.
  • UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018

Any organisation handling personal data about people in the UK must have a lawful basis for it, keep it accurate and no longer than needed, and protect it with appropriate technical and organisational measures. Personal data breaches that pose a risk to people must be reported to the ICO within 72 hours of becoming aware of them, and most organisations that process personal data need to pay the ICO data protection fee.

How we help: We help you build a record of where personal data is held, restrict access by role, enforce MFA, encrypt laptops and mobiles, configure retention and backups, and write a breach-response runbook so the 72-hour clock does not catch you unprepared. Decisions on lawful basis and legal interpretation stay with you and your advisers.

  • Cyber Essentials (government-backed scheme)

Cyber Essentials is a voluntary, government-backed certification run through the NCSC that covers five technical controls: firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection and security update management. Some public-sector and supply-chain contracts ask suppliers to hold it.

How we help: We help clients prepare for assessment by working through each control: configuring firewalls, removing unused accounts and software, applying patches within the expected window and setting up malware protection. We are not an assessor or certification body; you apply through an accredited one.

Contact

How clients in the UK reach us

UK clients tend to message us on WhatsApp, email for anything that needs a paper trail, and book video calls during UK working hours. All delivery is remote, through secure sessions and written updates; if you have on-site needs, ask us about them.

FAQ

Questions from businesses in the UK

Will someone visit our office?

Our service is delivered remotely through secure sessions, which is usually the quickest route to a fix. For hardware swaps or cabling we can coordinate with a supplier you choose and handle the configuration ourselves, and if you have other on-site needs, ask us about them when we scope the work.

Will our data leave the UK?

Your data stays in your own Microsoft, Google or cloud tenant, in the region you choose, such as Azure UK South. Our engineers sign in remotely with MFA-protected admin accounts. Where staff outside the UK can access personal data, we document that so you can reflect it in your privacy notices and transfer records.

What currency do you invoice in?

All our plans are priced and invoiced in US dollars (USD), including for UK clients.

Can you help us get ready for Cyber Essentials?

We can work through the five controls with you and fix what falls short before you apply. Certification itself is issued by an accredited certification body, not by us.

What if something breaks outside office hours?

Monitoring tools keep running outside office hours, including weekends and bank holidays, and log alerts such as a late-night email outage or a failed backup on a Sunday. When our team picks those alerts up depends on the support hours and response times set out in your service agreement, which we agree with you before we start.

Do you provide IT support in Sutton, Croydon and the rest of London?

Yes. We provide IT support to businesses in Sutton, Croydon and across London, and to the rest of the UK. Work is done remotely through secure sessions, which is usually the quickest route to a fix. On-site visits are by arrangement rather than a guaranteed call-out, so tell us what you need and we will be straight about what we can do.

Is remote IT support enough for a small business, or do we need someone on site?

Remote IT support handles most of what a small business asks for: email and Microsoft 365 issues, slow laptops, software installs, access changes and security alerts. The jobs that need hands are hardware faults, cabling and new kit. For those we talk a member of your staff through it, work with a supplier you already use, or discuss a visit by arrangement.
