Hotel, Guesthouse & Restaurant Networks
In hospitality, Wi-Fi is part of the guest experience. Slow or patchy connections lead to complaints and poor reviews. Behind the scenes, the same network often carries card machines, point-of-sale terminals, back-office computers, booking systems, and security cameras. When everything shares one flat network with one password, a single compromised guest device can see far more than it should.
We design networks that keep each of those groups apart. Guests get their own Wi-Fi with a branded captive portal, fair bandwidth limits, and no access to anything internal. Staff, point-of-sale, CCTV, and management systems each sit on separate VLANs with firewall rules between them. Coverage is planned room by room and floor by floor, so signal reaches the places guests actually use.
We work with hardware from Cisco, MikroTik, TP-Link Omada, and Ubiquiti, chosen to suit the size of the property and your budget. For groups with several sites, we set up central management and secure links between locations so one team can see and manage everything. Our team supports and monitors the network remotely, and we coordinate with local installers for cabling and mounting where needed.
In short
How should a hotel or restaurant Wi-Fi network be set up?
A hotel or restaurant Wi-Fi network should keep guests, staff, point-of-sale terminals, cameras, and management systems on separate networks with firewall rules between them. TechPit Solutions plans coverage room by room, sets up guest Wi-Fi with a branded captive portal and bandwidth limits, and isolates payment terminals and CCTV. Hardware comes from Cisco, MikroTik, TP-Link Omada, or Ubiquiti, with central management for groups with several sites.
- Best for hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and cafes that offer guest Wi-Fi and run card terminals or cameras on the same connection.
- Designed, configured, and monitored remotely after a free consultation, with local installers handling cabling and mounting from our layouts.
Who this is for
- Hotels and resorts that need reliable guest Wi-Fi across rooms, lobbies, and outdoor areas
- Guesthouses, B&Bs, and holiday lets with consumer routers that cannot cope
- Restaurants, cafes, and bars that offer guest Wi-Fi and run card terminals on the same connection
- Hospitality groups with several properties that want one consistent setup
- Owners worried about guests being able to reach their cameras, tills, or office computers
Problems we fix
- Guests complain about slow or dropping Wi-Fi, and it shows up in reviews
- Guests, staff, tills, and cameras all share one network and one password
- A few guests streaming video slow the connection for everyone else, including card payments
- Wi-Fi does not reach some rooms, floors, or outdoor areas
- Each site was set up differently, and nobody has a full picture of what is installed
What's included
What our Hospitality Networks service includes
Site survey and coverage plan
We review floor plans, building materials, room layout, and current equipment, and plan access point locations for good coverage where guests and staff need it.
Network segmentation with VLANs
We create separate networks for guests, staff, point-of-sale, CCTV, IoT devices, and management, with firewall rules that block traffic between them unless it is needed.
Guest Wi-Fi and captive portal
We set up a branded captive portal with terms acceptance or voucher access, client isolation, per-device bandwidth limits, and content filtering if you want it.
PoS and CCTV protection
Payment terminals and cameras sit on isolated segments with tightly limited access, and remote camera viewing goes through a secure route instead of open ports.
Multi-site management
For groups, we set up central controllers, standard configurations, and secure site-to-site links so every property is managed from one place.
Monitoring, documentation, and support
We document the network, set up remote monitoring and alerts, and provide ongoing remote support for outages, changes, and new equipment.
Benefits
Why it's worth doing properly
Happier guests
Planned coverage and fair bandwidth sharing give guests a connection that works where they actually use it.
Payments and cameras kept separate
Guest devices cannot reach your tills, cameras, or office systems, which reduces risk and simplifies payment security reviews.
Reliable service during busy periods
Bandwidth limits and traffic priorities keep card payments and staff systems working even when the guest network is busy.
One view across your properties
Central management means consistent settings, faster fixes, and a clear inventory of equipment at every site.
Process
How the work runs
- STEP 01
Assess the property
We review the building, current network, internet connections, devices, and guest feedback, and agree on coverage and security goals.
- STEP 02
Design the network
We plan access point placement, VLANs, firewall rules, captive portal, bandwidth policies, and hardware, and share a clear design and equipment list.
- STEP 03
Install and configure
We configure the equipment, coordinate with local installers for cabling and mounting, migrate devices to their new networks, and test coverage and isolation.
- STEP 04
Monitor and support
We monitor uptime and performance remotely, respond to issues, and adjust settings as occupancy, devices, and services change.
Tools we commonly work with
- Cisco Meraki
- Cisco Catalyst
- MikroTik RouterOS
- TP-Link Omada
- Ubiquiti UniFi
- pfSense

FAQ
Hospitality Networks: common questions
Why should guest and staff networks be separate?
Guest devices are outside your control and may carry malware or be used by someone curious. If guests share a network with your tills, cameras, and office computers, those systems are exposed. Separate VLANs with firewall rules mean a guest can reach the internet but nothing else, while your internal systems stay private.
Does network separation make us PCI compliant?
Isolating payment systems is an important technical step and can reduce how much of your network is in scope for PCI DSS, but it does not make you compliant on its own. We implement the network safeguards and document them. Your payment provider or compliance advisor confirms what applies to your business and what else is required.
Which hardware brand do you recommend?
It depends on the property. Ubiquiti UniFi and TP-Link Omada suit many small and mid-sized properties with good central management. MikroTik offers flexible routing at a modest cost. Cisco and Meraki suit larger hotels and groups that want enterprise features and support. We recommend based on size, budget, and who will manage it.
Can we have a branded login page for guests?
Yes. We set up a captive portal with your branding, terms of use, and either simple acceptance, room or voucher codes, or email sign-in. If you collect guest details for marketing, we build in consent options, and your advisor confirms what applies under local privacy rules.
Do you install the equipment on site?
We design, configure, and support the network remotely, and work with local installers or electricians for cabling and mounting. We provide them with clear layouts and labeling, then configure and test everything remotely once the hardware is in place.
How much does a hospitality network cost?
Cost depends on the size and layout of the property, the number of rooms and areas to cover, existing cabling, the hardware chosen, and the number of sites. Hardware and installation labor are separate. Book a free consultation and we will give you a clear quote.
